Ships Passing In the Night - 2019
“Ships that pass in the night, and speak each other in passing, Only a signal shown and a distant voice in the darkness; So on the ocean of life, we pass and speak one another, Only a look and a voice, then darkness again and a silence.”
This wire sculpture series expresses the transient encounters and brief connections we experience in life. Combining the art of weaving and wire sculpture with spatial forms, it reflects fleeting intersections of time, place, and environment. The series explores the subtle psychological dynamics and unnoticed behaviors that influence our daily lives.
In the hustle of everyday life, we frequently encounter unfamiliar faces, yet we rarely make any lasting connection. In moments of stillness, we become aware of what we overlooked, of what passed us by. This series invites reflection on these ephemeral connections, where one glance or a fleeting voice may be all that remains—before we return to the silence and darkness.
